Leeside’s newest festival – Cork Ska & Reggae festival partnered with Risings Sons Brewery is in it’s first year of existence. Filling the gap in the cities festival market which has been long overdue for a good foot stomping and jamming summer vibe party.
Crane Lane Theatre , Phoenix St and Poor Relation, Parnell Place are the first two venues to host with the plan to add more in the coming years.
Crane Lane Theatre will have live music and DJ’s throughout the weekend with late closing each night until 2.30am Friday & Saturday and 2am Sunday.
Line up includes: The Service, The Bionic Rats, Skatuesques, Natty Wailer & The Reggae Vibes, The Lights Runners, The Fitzafrenic and Gypsyish. All of the events are Free.
The Poor Relation will become the “Dub Hub” with Bands and DJ’s throughout the weekend and Also Rock Steady Food Co. will be bring a special Reggae BBQ on the Sunday afternoon.
Featured acts include, Cian Finn, Wiggle and Undercurrent club night.
This year the focus will be on the best national bands and DJ’s on offer and in the coming years this will open up to renowned international acts and a section dedicated to the up and coming in the Ska and Reggae scene , a generation of young musicians and bands in neighbouring countries and further afield
Cork Ska & Reggae festival is reviving a scene that has never grown old and some of the bands are still around, live and gigging in 2017 as they did in the Cork Arcadia ballroom back in the late 70’s/80’s such as The Specials, The Beat and many more. Future plans bring exciting times for the Ska and Reggae community.
This festival has one untied goal to fulfil ” Spreading a One Love vibe and uniting people though the power of music “
