Laoise Leahy will perform a collection of songs spanning original and interpreted music with a quartet – consisting of Luke Howard (piano), Barry Donohue (bass) & Dominic Mullan (drums) Laoise will also welcome a very special guest to join her on stage.

Hailed as one of Ireland’s finest jazz vocal talents; London trained performer, songwriter and educator Laoise Leahy brings a unique blend of classic, contemporary and original jazz music to her live shows. Laoise is a dynamic and versatile singer, having performed as soloist with large ensembles such as The RTE Concert Orchestra & The New Irish Jazz Orchestra, as a session singer with the likes of Bon Iver, Damon Albarn, Damien Rice & Gilbert O’Sullivan and fronting her own projects and ensembles. Laoise recently released her debut single ‘Girl’ which was warmly received and broadcast on BBC & RTE radio. Her composition and improvisation techniques incorporate a lifetime influence of jazz, soul, electronic, pop and blues music and she will have to opportunity to continue to develop with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland as a recent award recipient. The Laoise Leahy quartet with special guests are sure to wow all in attendance.

Luke Howard (piano)

Dublin born multi-instrumentalist Luke Howard trained with the RIAM and developed an interest in writing his own music early on. His interest in improvisation led him to DCU where he received an honours degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance. He was offered a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. Luke has performed at festivals and jazz clubs nationally and internationally and he is very active in the Irish music scene.  He has recently performed with artists such as Haiku, Jake Curran, Loah, Parallel Society and the Conor Guilfoyle Octet. Luke’s work spans many musical fields, including composition, electronics and production for theatre and film and he is actively pursuing his keen interest in composing, recording and producing original music.

Barry Donohue (Bass, upright & electric)

Barry is an Irish double bassist and electric bass guitarist who has studied with the likes of renowned classical double bassist Thierry Barbé, contemporary jazz guitarist Nelson Veras, and composer/saxophonist Stephane Payen. Donohue has had his studies and performance career supported by Music Network and The Arts Council of Ireland. In session, Barry has performed and recorded with some of Ireland’s biggest names, including Mary Coughlan, Chris Guilfoyle (Umbra) & Sean Carpio and with international stars such as Nils Wogram (DE), Tal Cohen (US) & Michael Piolet. In recent years he has served as bandleader of ‘Plaza Real’ and brought together his own group ‘Satori’ who met at the IASJ meeting (International Association of Schools of Jazz) in 2011 who have recorded their eagerly anticipated debut album.

Dominic Mullan (Drums) 

Wicklow based Dominic is a true stalwart of the Irish music scene. With an impressive CV of national and international associated acts, Dom is in continuous demand on both recording and live performance duties ranging from jazz greats such as Georgie Fame, Liane Carroll, Taylor Eigsti, Louis Stewart and Jim Mullen to contemporary commercial artists like Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) & Andrea Corr.
